Taste and Experience The Gastro X Art Creative Crawl at Ibagiw Festival

Food and art converge during this year’s Ibagiw Creative City Festival.

Every November, the Ibagiw Creative City Festival brings together the best of Baguio—its food, art, and stories. This year, one of the festival’s most exciting activities is the Gastro X Art Creative Crawl, a fresh way to experience the city. Combining food and art, this event is all about enjoying local creativity through your senses.

The Gastro X Art Creative Crawl was conceptualized by Marie Venus Tan, Co-Chair of the Creative Baguio City Council. Her idea was to highlight the connections between Baguio’s chefs and artists, two groups that share the same passion for creating. The crawl gives artists a chance to show their work in everyday spaces like restaurants and cafes, where people can appreciate it up close—and maybe even take a piece home. It’s also a way for visitors to explore Baguio while supporting local talent and learning more about the city’s rich culture.

Here’s a closer look at this year’s stops.

Where Food and Art Come Together

  1. Amare La Cucina. Amare La Cucina is already a favorite for its wood-fired pizzas, but during the crawl, it adds something new: the works of Jordan Mang-osan and Gilbert Alberto. These artists are known for creating pieces that reflect Cordilleran life and landscapes. Imagine enjoying a perfect slice of pizza while surrounded by artwork that tells the story of the region—it’s a dining experience you won’t forget.
  1. Le Chef at The Manor. At Le Chef, the elegance of the food pairs perfectly with the intricate art of The Mighty Bhutens, Francis Alingcayon, and Irene Bimuyao. Their work reflects Baguio’s roots and its natural beauty, creating an atmosphere that makes you feel part of something special.
  1. Canto Bogchi Joint. Canto is known for its ribs and relaxed vibe, but during the crawl, you’ll also see the creative touch of Dulthe Munar, Hermie Bruno, and Cara Bruno. Their art adds an extra layer to the experience, making it the perfect spot for good food and inspiration.
  1. Chaya. Chaya’s Japanese food has always been about simplicity and quality, and that’s what makes it a standout. For the crawl, they’ve teamed up with Leonard Aguinaldo and Perry Mamaril, who create pieces that are both grounded and imaginative. Together, they bring something new to the dining table.

  1. The Gallery by Witchcraft. Witchcraft is all about good food and creativity, so it makes sense that it’s part of the crawl. Between courses of their signature dishes, you can take in art from Claire Jaun-Torres, Edgar Banasan, and Dean Michael Cuanso, whose works are full of emotion and character.

  1. Gypsy Baguio by Chef Waya. Chef Waya always brings bold ideas to the table, and her menu for the crawl is no exception. Paired with crafts from Mayat-an Handicrafts and the art of Joey Simsim, this stop is a blend of local stories and global flavors.
  1. Curious Coffee Co. at G1 Lodge. This cozy cafe is all about coffee and conversations, and the addition of artwork from Roland Bay-an, Johnny Bangao, and James Mang-osan gives visitors even more to talk about. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy something creative with your cup.
  1. Rebel Bakehouse. Rebel Bakehouse is all about breaking the rules when it comes to pastries, and their partnership with Clinton Anniversario and Robelyn Carantes-Gurang makes things even more interesting. Swing by for something sweet and a side of bold, thought-provoking art.
  1. L’Atelier Du Grain. If you love baked goods, this spot is a must-visit. Every bite is made with local ingredients, and the works of Marlyn De Lazo Bulayo make the space feel warm and inviting.
  1. Oh My Gulay. This vegetarian restaurant has always been more than just a place to eat—it’s a celebration of wellness and sustainability. During the crawl, their collaboration with Pinsel and Julius Lumiqued brings another layer of meaning to their space, making it as inspiring as it is healthy.
  1. Mountain Man. At Mountain Man, you’ll experience open-fire cooking inspired by Cordilleran traditions. Each private dinner feels intimate and unique, made even more special by the art of Carlo Villafuerte and Perry Mamaril, which complements the rustic charm of the food.
