The Philippines will host the World Travel Awards (WTA) Ceremony for the first time this year. Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco announced this at the MICECON 2024 conference in Clark, Pampanga on July 11. The WTA, known as the โOscarsโ of the travel industry, recognizes excellence in travel and tourism across various categories.
The red-carpet reception will be held at City of Dreams Luxury Resort in Paraรฑaque, Manila on September 3. WTA founder Graham Cooke expressed his honor in bringing the event to the Philippines, highlighting the countryโs progress in tourism.
Frasco emphasized that hosting the WTA reflects global confidence in the Philippines as a top tourism and MICE destination. She also noted the success of the recent United Nations Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism in Cebu.
The WTA gala is a prime networking event for industry leaders and media. The Philippines is nominated for seven awards in the Asian category, including Asiaโs Leading Beach Destination and Asiaโs Leading Dive Destination.
For the Asian category, the Philippines is vying for seven awards.

Other regional WTA ceremonies will be held in Berlin, Dubai, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, and Diani Beach, with the Grand Final in Madeira, Portugal at the end of the year.
